about

Jerusalem-based producer, DJ and label head, Markey Funk presents a new solo release on his mini-imprint Som Recordings - a retro-futuristic soundtrack for the curious world of tiny robots made of everyday spare parts.

Initially commissioned by toy company The Offbits for their Kickstarter campaign back in 2015, "The Music of Spare Parts" takes its inspiration from playful works by electronic music pioneers, such as Delia Derbyshire, John Baker, Raymond Scott, Roger Roger and Jean-Jacques Perrey. Barely crossing the 6-minute mark in its total running time, this 12-track EP (?) is a complete collection of short cues created for The Offbits - including two unused demos and a theme for the company's ad from 2017.
